Editing
After tracking is complete, our engineers improve the sound quality of individual tracks — removing unwanted noise, adjusting timing, and enhancing the overall clarity of each element.
Mixing
Mixing balances every track to ensure it all fits harmoniously. We adjust levels, panning, and apply audio effects — creating a cohesive, professional sound.
Mastering
Mastering is the final polish. Stereo enhancements, dynamic adjustments, and optimisation so your music sounds clear, loud, and professional on any platform or format.
Hybrid Approach
We offer a hybrid digital and analogue mixdown for an enhanced stereo mix in your preferred format — the best of both worlds, tailored to suit your project.

Mixing and mastering pricing depends on many factors — the number of tracks, complexity of the arrangement, how it was recorded, and what format you need at the end. Tell us about your project and we'll give you a straightforward quote.
How many tracks / stems?
A simple singer-songwriter track with 8 stems is very different from a 48-track full band production. The more tracks, the more time required.
Where was it recorded?
Recorded here at Black Cactus, another studio, or at home? The recording quality of the raw tracks affects the work needed at mix stage.
Instrumentation & arrangement
Full live band, electronic production, acoustic, orchestral? Layers of guitars, synths, strings and backing vocals all affect mixing time.
Do you have a reference?
A commercially released song with the sound you're going for is one of the most useful things you can give us. It tells us instantly where you want to land tonally.
Mix only, master only, or both?
Have a mix you're happy with and just need mastering? Or do you need both? Remote mixing is available — send your stems and we'll handle the rest.
Deadline & release plan
Is there a release date or format required — streaming, vinyl, CD? Let us know and we'll work backwards to get it done on time.
